A Word About Us

We are a Christian church doing God’s work in the

Spanish-speaking communities of San Luis Obispo County, California. Our church was founded in 1997 in the old “Log Cabin” church building on Broad Street in San Luis Obispo.

Our beginning was greatly attributed to the loving generosity of The House of Prayer (COGIC) church, which offered the use of their facilities so our small group could congregate and form Casa de Oración.

Pastor Ricardo Gonzalez started worship services in Spanish at 751 El Capitan and soon the congregation grew and the Holy Spirit began to move within the brothers and sisters of Casa de Oración. As the movement prospered, God gave light to the congregation and they followed the vision.

The church, Casa de Oración, continues to pray and ask the Lord for guidance to meet the needs of the Spanish-speaking communities of San Luis Obispo County.

About Casa de Oración

As Casa de Oración established itself as a spiritual refuge for the tired, hungry, and broken hearted, it became very clear to Pastor Gonzalez that God’s purpose was for the church to continue to serve San Luis Obispo. In addition to the worship schedule, our church began to meet other needs of our congregation, such as housing assistance, food distribution, and job search assistance.

As the congregation grew in size, so did the need for services and assistance. The needs were being defined and soon the need exceeded our capacity at our current site, so we prayed to seek the Lord’s direction. Casa de Oración soon received God’s vision for them to build a church for His flock - a church that would open its doors to all in San Luis Obispo County with a need, and to provide a helping hand to all who came in search of the word of God.

Casa de Oración is currently developing a financial strategy and raising funds to complete the vision by renovating an old church that was acquired in Paso Robles to house our growing congregation. The renovations will help us improve our capacity to offer much needed services, such as: child care, ESL classes, culinary and hospitality training, financial literacy workshops, health and wellness programs, after school and summer enrichment programs/activities for youth.
